Aging affects everyone, but many of the health effects that come with growing older for men are actually a symptom of low testosterone.
Testosterone is one of the most important hormones in men, and the team at LaSara Medical Group in Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego, CA, provides testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) that can go a long way in slowing the many side effects of the aging process.
What is Testosterone Replacement Therapy?
Testosterone is responsible for many sexual traits in men and plays an integral role in a wide range of biological processes like sex drive, weight loss, and energy levels. As we age, our body naturally produces less and less testosterone, causing some men to experience a number of unpleasant mental and physical symptoms like loss of erections, muscle loss, weight gain, and a deceased overall quality of life. In addition to the natural decline in testosterone levels as we age (sometimes referred to as “male menopause” or “andropause”), some men suffer from a condition called hypogonadism (also known as Low T) which causes an unnaturally low level of testosterone due to a dysfunction in the testicles.
Testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) helps to counteract this shift in hormone levels. Contrary to many anti-aging advertisements, testosterone therapy can't reverse the aging process, but it can make aging a more gradual process and limit the physical effects.
Are You a Candidate for Testosterone Replacement Therapy?
If you are experiencing unwanted side effects associated with low or imbalanced hormone levels, testosterone replacement therapy can be right for you. Testosterone replacement therapy at LaSara Medical Group is generally safe for most individuals. However, it is always best to consult with your physician before commencing treatment. If you have any questions about your eligibility to receive testosterone replacement therapy, don't hesitate to make a consultation appointment with one of our offices today!
What is The Process of Becoming a Testosterone Replacement Patient?
The first step is to schedule your new patient health assessment. During the appointment, our providers will perform an in-depth assessment of your symptoms and determine if what you are experiencing is, in fact, low testosterone. After the assessment, we perform a simple blood test to check your overall physical wellness and confirm if your testosterone levels are low, and check other health markers to ensure you can safely receive testosterone replacement therapy.
If you are a candidate for TRT, our Medical Director will develop a treatment plan, write you a prescription and train you on how to administer the testosterone injection treatment at home safely. Your treatment will then be self-administered in the comfort of your home. After 3-6 months of treatment, LaSara Medical Group will retest all biological markers and provide a follow-up assessment with our Medical Director to ensure you are experiencing the benefits of TRT.
